Breast cancer survivors, community representatives, public health professionals, and healthcare providers meet monthly to plan and implement local activities in breast cancer control. Currently, the group is implementing a collaborative project that encompasses both community outreach education and professional education with providers to increase access to high-quality, evidence-based, and culturally-appropriate breast health services throughout the county. The project, funded through a three-year grant from Lincoln’s Community Health Endowment (CHE), is focused on reaching three target populations: Latinas, African American women, and women who earn less than $35,000/year. The group is also currently recruiting and training Screening Advocates to reach out to peers, friends and family to encourage breast cancer screening.
The Alliance meets the first Thursday of each month from 2:00-4:00pm in the 2nd Floor library of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department at 3140 N Street. Parking is available on the east and south sides of the building. The Alliance Chair is Danna Bacon. For more information or to join the Alliance, contact her by clicking here.
