“See, Test, and Treat” Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening

image001On July 9, 2016 the Charles Drew Health Center is presenting a free screening event, See, Test, and Treat. This screening event, a CAP Foundation program, uses a team of volunteers to provide 75 free mammograms and PAPs to uninsured women who would not qualify for any state funded programs such as Every Woman Matters. A mammogram van will be onsite at Charles Drew to provide mammograms to patients who may have issues with mobility. Charles Drew will be using their drivers and vans to take patients to and from Creighton for the tests. Fourteen interpreters will also be on-site to make sure all care is being delivered in the patients’ languages. Clinic health navigators will be on hand to provide results and a follow-up treatment plan. Charles Drew will also have a behavioral health therapist available, as well as administering hearing and STD screenings. Susan G. Komen® Great Plains will provide the mammogram van and educational materials.

The event will bring several agencies together to provide guests with information about resources and support services available in the community. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy complimentary breakfast, lunch, snacks and educational activities. Children’s activities will also be provided at no cost.

See, Test, and Treat aims to celebrate and empower women in the Omaha community by providing breast and cervical cancer screening, results, resources, information and support for any future health services. The goal is to help women walk away from the event feeling supported, empowered and informed.
