The Simply Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Style Show is held annually in Kearney. This fun and uplifting event is designed to raise breast cancer awareness and honor breast cancer survivors. Approximately 250 people attended the show in 2014, which featured 16 survivor models and family members. The models were escorted by players of the Tri-City Storm Hockey team. The program was emceed by Carol Staab, producer and co-host of NTV’s Good Life. Clothing was loaned by area retailers and personal collectors. A video at the end of the program featured the newly renovated Good Samaritan Breast Center. A photo booth allowed attendees to create memories using fun props and silly poses. While the event is free, donations are accepted and a purse raffle drawing held during the fashion show raised additional funds for special projects. Elegant desserts were served at the reception following the show by members of Good Samaritan’s Nutrition Services department. Each guest was presented with a long-stemmed pink rose as they left the event. The event was promoted through NTV’s Good Life, paid and digital advertisements, internal hospital communication, and in Good Samaritan Hospital’s Health Talk, a local radio segment.
