The goal of the Central Nebraska Community Services Woman-to-Woman/De Mujer Program is for women to learn the importance of early detection and receive recommended breast cancer screenings. Hispanic, rural and elderly women in Hall, Hamilton, Merrick, Platte, Colfax, Boone, and Nance counties are targeted with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Self-Awareness plan: know your risk, get screened, know what is normal for you, and make healthy lifestyle choices.
Women are been reached with education and interventions in English and Spanish at WIC Clinics, senior centers, Head Start parent meetings, at the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, in churches, at sporting events and other public events.
Woman-to-Woman/De Mujer a Mujer encourages women of all ages to partner together in following through with breast cancer screening. Increasing the number of women completing breast cancer screenings will lead to the program’s ultimate goal—saving lives. The program is funded through Komen Great Plains.
