Transportation Assistance

The Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center is offering free transportation within a 20-mile radius of the Center’s 84th Street Omaha campus for individuals who need screening mammograms, active cancer treatment or follow-up visits with their physician. For more information, contact Peggy Jarrell at 402.354.4213 (everyday except Monday) or Amy Wilke at 402.354.5143.

Thanks to a grant from Susan G. Komen® Great Plains  the Sarpy/Cass Health Department now provides transportation assistance for women to access breast screening services in Sarpy and Cass Counties.

The SCHD will work on increasing reach, enrollment, and access to Every Woman Matters by partnering with the Plattsmouth Senior Center, Intercultural Senior Center and Eastern Nebraska Office of Aging Rural Transportation. They hope to serve 45-50 women over the course of the year. The Eastern Nebraska Office of Aging Rural Transportation will work with SCHD to provide “transportation vouchers” to and from screening appointments for women enrolled in the EWM program and for women with significant cost barriers to accessing breast cancer screening.

If you would like to request a voucher or need more information, email Gbadero Yerokun-Houessou or call her at 402.537.6968. She will set up an in-person or telephone meeting to ask a few questions. After this preliminary meeting, she will issue voucher(s) for the number of trips needed and schedule appointment times.
