Support Groups

Many people find comfort and connect to new resources through breast cancer support groups. Some groups are open to breast cancer patients, survivors and friends/family members. The groups listed here are affiliated with Nebraska hospitals. Please call before attending because event locations and times listed may change. 

LINCOLN

On the third Tuesday of every month a Bryan Health Breast Cancer Support Group for individuals with breast cancer and those close to them meets at the Bryan West Campus, Conference Center C, 23000 S. 16th Street.  The class runs from 7:00-8:00pm and is free to participants. The first Wednesday of each month the CHI Health St. Elizabeth Breast Cancer Support Group is held in the lobby of the Radiation Therapy Department, 6:30-8:00pm, 402.219.7433.

The third Tuesday of every month from 6:00-7:30pm – CHI Health St. Elizabeth Living Beyond Cancer Support Group is open to individuals touched by any type of cancer and their caregivers. Held in lobby of Radiation Therapy. Call 402.219.7935.

The Midwest Nebraska Area Young Survival Coalition Face 2 Face Network has started a new support group for young breast cancer patients. OMAHA

Omaha – Bright Pink Outreach Support Group for women at high risk, battling, or surviving breast and ovarian cancers. Places, dates and times may change each month, so call 402.659.3438 or click on the link above for more information.

A Time to Heal – Survivors with Metastatic or Recurrent Cancer Support Group meets the  2nd & 4th Tuesdays of each month 4:00pm-5:30pm, at the Servite Center of Compassion 74th & Ames Circle.Location or times may change, so call or email before your first visit: 402.401.6083, or [email protected]

A Time to Heal – Women’s Survivors Group for Individuals with Metastatic or Recurrent Cancer meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, 6:00pm-7:30pm at the Papillion Sump Memorial Library. Location or times may change, so call or email before your first visit: 402.401.6083, or [email protected] .

Breast Cancer Support Group – 2nd Tuesday of the Month : Women only. Meets 4:30 to 6 p.m. in Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center, Karrer Conference Room. Call Jean Adair 402.354.5478.

Young Adult Cancer Survivors – For young adults approximately 19 to 40 years-old. Held at the Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center. Call Colleen Hoarty, 402.354.5893 for more info or to be placed on the e-mail list.

My Sister’s KeeperBreast Cancer Education and Advocacy Support Group for African American Women. Meets second Tuesday of each month. Call MaxCine Jackson at 402.541.5803 for meeting times and locations.

Cancer Survivorship Group – Education and support group concerned with survivorship/ quality of life issues for people with a current or past cancer diagnosis and their family and friends. CHI Health Living with Cancer – “Lunch and Learn” – Group for cancer patients and families. Meets at noon on the Immanuel, Bergan Mercy, Mercy & Midwest Cancer Center campuses. FREMONT

Sisters and survivors-support for women on the cancer journey and beyond – For women with any type of cancer. Meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 12 Noon in the Dunklau Room, Fremont Health Medical Center, 450 East 23rd Street, Fremont, NE. Light lunch provided.
