Expressions of Art and Hope

Expressions of Art and Hope, free art classes for cancer patients and survivors, are held the second Monday of each month. The art classes, a collaboration of CHI St. Elizabeth and the Lux Center for the Arts, take place between 6:00-8:00pm at the Lux, 2601 N. 48th Street in Lincoln .

Upcoming classes for 2018 include the following:

Monday, January 8, 6-8 p.m. – Urban Landscape Watercolor Painting

Take home your own framed 8″ x 8″ watercolor painting! Bring a photo of your home, church, or any urban landscape printed on standard printer paper if you can. Light tables will be available for those who want to trace the basic shapes of their chosen photo before painting. Frames and all other necessary supplies are provided but you are welcome to bring your own as well.

Monday, February 12, 6-8 p.m. – Air Plant & Succulent Pots

Make your own hanging air plant pot or succulent pot! We will be hand building hallow clay forms meant to house living plants. If you have succulent cuttings to share, please bring them to class. The LUX staff will have a number of succulent cuttings and air plants from our own collections to share.

Monday, March 12, 6-8 p.m. – Embossed Copper Tube Jewelry

Learn to emboss your own copper jewelry! By applying adhesive and embossing powder to copper you will create colorful faux enameling effects. Both pendants and earrings will be made using copper tubing. If you have an embossing heat gun, please bring it to class.
